About Oliver
Oliver is the cutest of them all! This little guy came into the world weighing just 30lbs, but his physical size for sure did not determine his personality size! In his free time, Oliver enjoys chasing the goats and baby doll sheep... and at just one week old, he was already experimenting with eating hay. His name is inspired by the O outlined by his white belt, and his fluffy dun colored hair is to die for! Oliver would be great as a pet or as a bull in your breeding program. If you are interested in Oliver, please get in touch with us through our Contact Us page or our Instagram @5t_minicows.

About Smokey
Smokey is such a sweet boy. He has really nice, curly hair and the cutest eyes. His favorite treat EVER is apples. Smokey can be pet slightly, but has had no halter or brush training. He will come right up to you for treats and feed, though. Smokey additionally does excellent with smaller animals, including goats, sheep, and calves. Smokey is a steer, so he will continue to have a mellow personality. Lastly, Smokey is for sale as a pet, not for meat. If you are interested in Smokey, please reach out to us via our Contact Us page or our Instagram @5t_minicows.

About Sammy
Sammy is truly such a fun heifer. She was named Sammy because she looks like a sandwich! Sammy is very similar to her brother Smokey, and LOVES apples. She can be pet slightly, but has had no halter or brush training. Sammy does well with other minicows and small animals like sheep and goats. I think she will also be a great mom, because she has been a great sister to Oliver and Loretta. Lastly, Sammy is available for sale as a pet, not for meat. If you are interested in Sammy, please get in touch with us through our Contact Us page or through our Instagram, @5t_minicows

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a mini Highland cow?
Mini Highland cows are a charming, pint-sized version of the traditional Highland breed, beloved for their compact stature and signature fluffy coats. Standing just 36 to 44 inches tall at the shoulder when fully grown, these little dynamos combine all the iconic traits of their larger counterparts with an added dose of cuteness.

Rooted in Scotland’s rugged Highlands, their hardy nature allows them to thrive in a variety of climates and adapt to different living environments roaming wide-open pastures or grazing on a smaller homestead.

How long do mini Highlands live for?
Mini Highland cows can live between 15 and 20 years, pending adequate health and good, proper caretaking. This includes veterinary care, nutritious diets, and a safe environment, among other things.
What contributes to the cost of a mini Highland cow or bull?
Our prices are based on several factors, each reflecting the care and loving, hands-on approach we take when raising our herd. Genetics definitely plays a big role, as animals with superior lineage are more highly sought after. We also consider age, gender, and breeding status when setting a mini Highland cow cost—mini cow calves are often more aƯordable, while breedingage cows, heifers, and bulls may be priced higher due to their potential. Unique traits like specific coat colors or better temperaments can also influence the overall Highland mini cow price.
How much land do you need to have a mini Highland cow?
Mini Highlands are not very large, so we suggest at least ½ to 1 acre of pasture per cow. Their manageable size and delicate nature make them—and other members of our herd—an excellent choice for smaller homesteads or hobby farms.
What’s the most important thing to know about caring for a mini Highland cattle?
The most important thing to know about caring for Mini Highland cattle, as well as other smallbred cattle, is that they thrive under proper care, which includes sufficient space, balanced nutrition, and, of course, companionship! While they are hardy and adaptable to various climates, they still benefit greatly from thoughtful management. Provide at least ½ to 1 acre of land per cow, access to clean water, and supplemental hay during winter so they stay healthy and happy. Mini Highlands are social animals, too, so keeping them with other cattle or livestock is important for their welfare.
